Air-Liner Gravel

This is not a long term review, but I bought the gravel inserts and went to a local cyclocross series race and pinch flattered warming up for my race. I know it could be a one in a million chance, but it was a big bummer to travel 2 hours and not be able to race.

Not worth the hassle IMO. During a race I pinch flatted and had to carry the insert in my jersey for 3+ hrs to finish the race. Also, do not let sealant dry in the tire with the insert. I put a new tire on the wheel and due to work I was unable to ride causing the sealant to dry in the wheel gluing the insert to the rim making the tire unremovable because it holds the tire bead seated and would not come loose no matter what I tried. I finally gave up and cut a tire in half to get it off the rim.

Just installed a pair of Air-Liners on my gravel tire wheelset for my Specialized Turbo SL Creo. Install was straight forward, after watching the how-to video a few times. Now I can worry less about getting a puncture(s) while riding in the gravel terrain. Will do the same for my road tire wheelset.

Easy enough to install following the decent directions. Installed in 700X40 gravel tires. The valves are nice. Ride quality seems unchanged, feeling perhaps a bit more solid and settled which is nice, though it could be just my imagination. I'm more confident about hopping curbs, smashing through rough pavement and trails, that the tires won't flat due to impact (and the rims won't be dented) during weekday commuting and weekend fun stuff.

Whatever benefits these insert may have are far outweighed by the fact that they make something as simple as changing a tire a complete pain. Installing a tire became significantly more difficult and removing a tire became nearly impossible. I have never had issues installing gravel tires until I tried these inserts. If you are looking at getting tubeless inserts then I would recommend looking at other options.
