Customers praise this XC race tire as "surprisingly fast" with "excellent grip" and durability. Many noted it rolls faster than competitors while maintaining traction in corners and dry conditions. Some concerns about sizing inconsistency (2.4 measuring smaller) and occasional wet weather performance. One defective tire reported. Ideal for racing and hard-packed trails.

  • Surprisingly durable for as fast as the tire is. Unprecedented
  • 100% traction - never skipped or slid once. It turns well, is FAST and is SILENT
  • Cornering grip is like Velcro. Amazing grip in the corners and speedy while going straight

Very happy with the Peyote!!

Used it for my 100k race this past weekend at Wilmington Whiteface with the Mezcal race up front and Peyote in the back and it didn’t disappoint. Super fast combo and no punctures. Can’t go wrong with this setup. Ran the from at 19 PSIG and rear at 20 PSIG

The Aspen killer

Ive ridden Maxxis tires exclusively on my bikes since I picked riding back up a few years ago. My bikes all came with Maxxis tires and I always had good experiences so I never thought of trying any others till a friend talked me into trying Vittoria. I put this Peyote on the rear of my hardtail with a Mezcal race in front and they are better than my rekon race/aspen combo I had on there in every way. This tire is fast but still has braking traction and feels good in the corners. The quality when you pick it up can be felt and they hold air way longer. I liked it so much I already ordered Vittoria tires for the bike build Im doing now. This will be my go to rear tire on my hardtail from now on!

Ask for reviews 6-8 months after purchase

It’s December in the great PNW, my recent purchase of Peyote and Mescal tires sit in their shipping box. Shipping was fast, tires look great. But please, they’re not going on the bike for another 4 or 5 months: it’s a swamp out there now! So I recommend Victoria ask for reviews well after purchase when the tires have been ridden a good bit.

Peyote XC Race

I find the tires extremely fast compared to the Nobby Nic tires that came on my bike. Between the tires and tpu tubes, I have dropped 3lbs in bike weight. Cornering in the wet is sketchy, but fun.

Great Tire

Fast rolling, surprisingly good grip and durability for the weight.

surprisingly durable for as fast as the tire is. unprecendented

I was leary at first when I put them on in the desert in Arizona, and then just left them on and kept riding some pretty gnarly Arkansas trails and have had zero issues with them. I would expect a cut here and there in the future as I routinely ride them above their paygrade, but love how fast they roll.

New front tire on my Salsa Cutthroat

I love this tire. I've been riding hardpack, loose-over-hard and asphalt with the Peyote. 100% traction - never skipped or slid once. Not only does it grip, but it turns well (I've had front tires that resist turning!), is FAST and is SILENT (on all surfaces - including asphalt.) I think this will be going on the back when my WTB (which I also love!) wears down.

2.25 peyote race

I'm very disapointed that this 2.25 tire weighs more than the 2.4 peyote that I currently have. I had hoped it was going to Roanoke with me for Nationals but I left it at home.

Great XC tire

Fast rolling and a lot more durable than expected. I got 1200 miles out of my first before I replaced the rear.

Fast and smooth with good cornering

Faster than Mezcal and good cornering. A little wheel spin acceleration in a straight line. Mounted on a Salsa Fargo.

Fast tire, however not impressed with customer service, placed a call about pricing and rep never replied after our conversation

Too Small!

Labeled as a 2.4, but on 29mm ID rims my 2 tires measure 2.25 and 2.28. This is after I let them sit for a week inflated to make sure there was no casing stretch to be gained. Pretty annoyed as I ordered these to replace 2.2 tires to gain a tiny bit of give. Otherwise, based on my limited time on them so far, they are fast and seem to do well in the desert environment they are designed for.

Great tires

Very fast rolling and comfortable tires with a surprising amount of grip. Coming from Schwalbe Rocket Ron and Racing Ralph, which I like, but these are faster and hookup at least as well, if not better, in all conditions.

Fast rolling, good grip.

Have 50 miles on them so far and my impression so far is that they roll very fast and have great grip in most conditions. The only thing I've noticed so far is that they don't grip roots very well up climbs. I've heard them multiple times slip when I haven't noticed that with my other most recent tires.

Recent tires I've run this year on the rear. Maxxis Rekon Race, Schwalbe Racing Ralp, Specialized Renegade.

Nearly perfect for XC race rear.

The only negative initially is a small spot on the sidewall that actually leaked momentarily upon set-up (tubeless). It looks like there is a small scuffed spot that is showing a couple threads, but not enough for me to worry or return. I ran them for a ride on my bike to test before mounting them on my son's bike. No issues, so rolling with it. Speaking of rolling....holy cow!!! The Peyote Race rear with Mezcal Race front is noticeably faster than the Mezcal/Barzo trail combo that I have been running. I didn't really expect to feel much difference, but it was immediately apparent. If you are looking for light fast race tires, don't hesitate to give these a try!!!

Cornering grip is like Velcro

I’m really liking these tires after a few rides this far. Running the new peyote up front and back on my XC race bike. Amazing grip in the corners and speedy while going straight. Impressive!

Leadville and Tahoe Trail here we come

This tire is the best fast, durable and predictable tire out there. Hands down the best fast course dry tire.

Impressive tire

This is the third set of tires I have ridden in preparation for Leadville 100mtb. Others include schwalbe Thunder Burt 2.2 and the Bontrager Vallnord 2.4. The Peyote seems to roll similar to the others but is WAY stickier. Based on Strava segments, the Peyote has not slowed me down on the uphills as much as it has made me faster on the down hills. So far I’m very happy with the tires.

Surprising Amount of Grip!

Only having a few rides on this tire, I am initially impressed with the cornering ability. I am currently running the Peyote in the rear combined with the Mezcal up front. They Peyote rolls just as fast as one would think by simply looking at the tread pattern, but I was pleasantly surprised at its ability to hook up in aggressive cornering. This tire also has more climbing traction then I initially expected especially on steep/loose terrain. I think the Mezcal-F/Peyote-R will be my go-to for fast XCO/Marathon racing, but I may give the Peyote double combo a try for short track or courses with a lot of fire roads/gravel sections. The fact the tire comes in a 2.4 also allows for the ability to run a lower pressure increasing grip, suppleness, and comfort. Overall, a great tire and I highly recommend it!
